Whether deep tissue, aromatherapy or hot stones therapy, massage is excellent for back and neck problems, muscular, stress or tension related conditions, helping to maintain your health.

Calming the nervous system, slowing the breathing to promote a sense of deep relaxation and well being, reducing anxiety and tension, relieving depression, restoring range of motion and relieving pain... the benefits of massage are long.

Infra red heat is incorporated into the treatment couch for massage treatments but can be adapted for preference.

Pregnancy massage: Treatments can be incorporated for pregnancy massage and during the later stages of pregnancy a woman is most comfortable when laying on her side. Massage treatments are not advised in the first trimester and by booking an appointment you will confirm on the sent consultation form that you have sought approval from your doctor that massage is advised. If pregnancy clients experience nausea, vomit or morning sickness, suffer a higher than normal risk of miscarriage, have high risk pregnancy issues like placenta abruption or premature labour then written permission from a doctor will be needed. Massage therapy can decrease lower back and leg pain, lower anxiety or postnatal blues, improve regular sleep cycles, decrease production of stress hormones such as norepinephrine. Many women suffer from depression after pregnancy or during, research has shown that pregnancy massage can also increase the secretion of serotonin and dopamine in them, decrease stress chemical cortisol and promote a better sense of wellbeing in individuals. Recommended essential oils in the second and third trimesters include German chamomile, lavender, peppermint, frankincense, ylang ylang, eucalyptus, geranium, tea tree and bergamot. It's advisable not to use basil, rosemary, clary sage, aniseed and juniper berry for pregnancy massage.

                Aromatherapy

A deeply relaxing and aromatic treatment that uses 100% pure high grade essential oils, individually blended for you, medicinally to improve the health of the mind and body, to promote health and well being, enhancing both physical and emotional health. Ancient Greeks, Romans and Egyptians are credited amongst the first humans to harness the many capabilities of essential oils. These ancient peoples developed the techniques used to extract essential oils from their natural plant habitats via distillation and pressing. They used essential oils because of their healing and medical properties, for cosmetic purposes and to aid in spiritual meditation and relaxation. Today we realise these same regenerative, healing, soothing and aromatic benefits when essential oils are inhaled, diffused, ingested or applied topically to the skin, and aromatherapy massage is a wonderful way to utilise these aromatic oils.

        Remedial Deep Tissue

Intensive and deeply pressured, this massage works through the deeper tissue layers, including the use of elbows and arms for a deeper pressure using a warming muscle blend to warm through and relax the muscles for deeper tissue work. An ideal choice for chronic muscle pain, restoring range of motion and relieving pain. Enhanced cellular health, through increased blood and lymph circulation helps release connective tissue and nerves, leading to improved functioning.

Scar tissue formation is a natural part of the healing process when we injure a muscle tissue, ligament or tendon. The problem lies in the fact that scar tissue is not as strong or functional as the tissue it replaces. There is a lack of flexibilty in the tissue that in turn causes pain and dysfunction. Massage therapy helps break down scar tissue, encourages the formation of muscle tissue and reduces the swelling in soft tissue. It is recommended to leave 48 hours between treatments to allow muscles to recover.

            Hot Stones Therapy

With it's origins from the ancients, dating back approximately 5000 years ago in India, and called Ayurveda, hot stones therapy is a warming, soothing, pressurised and deeply relaxing massage therapy using aromatherapy blends and heated basalt stones, made from volcanic rock that retain heat, to help relax and ease tense muscles and damaged soft tissues throughout the body. Hot stones are both placed and massaged into the muscles and deep tissue work can be included in this treatment if a deeper pressure is preferred and is the ultimate muscle relaxer.
